What are Employee groups?
What are Employee groups?
Employee groups help organise staff based on their role, for example: Bartender, Chef, or Manager.
They determine:
Which shifts employees can work in your schedule.
Which employees are eligible for shifts linked to that group.
An employee can be part of one or several Employee groups, depending on their role and experience.
How to create an Employee group
Go to Planday web > People > Employee groups.
Click Create employee group.
Give your group a name (for example: Bartender staff, Chef).
Click Save.
(Optional) Add wages or salary codes now or later.
Set an hourly or per-shift default wage for the group.
For employees with fixed salaries, set wages individually instead.
Tip: You can also create a group directly from the Employees page by clicking the + icon next to the Employee groups list on the left.
How to edit an Employee group
Go to Planday web > People > Employee groups
or
People > Employees > Employee groups list.
Click the pencil icon next to the group name.
Here is what you can edit:
Group name - Change the name of the group.
Hourly wage - Set a standard hourly wage for all employees in this group.
Wage per shift - Choose if wages are set per shift instead of hourly.
Default wage type - Decide whether hourly or per-shift wages are the default for this group.
Salary code - Assign a salary code for payroll integration.
Add employees - Add employees to this group.
Select an employee:
Delete icon: Remove the selected employee from this group.
Edit icon: Edit the wage of the selected employee. This option allows you to set a unique wage for an individual employee, differing from the group wage. Please note that setting individual wages will override the group wage.
